About

The Canadian Center for Strategic Studies is a community of scholars and practitioners committed to excellence in research on strategic studies, military history, and international relations. The center was founded at Concordia University in 2015 with the intent to create an avenue for academics, young scholars and professionals to publish their work and engage with each other in their field of research.

Since November 11th 2017, the CCSS has become a Canadian Not-for-Profit Corporation, further reinforcing its status as an independent think tank, bringing a strategic and pragmatic approach to strategic matters that affect both domestic and global audiences. The CCSS provides external independent thinking and proposes an open forum for global conversations on the threats and security vulnerabilities we face in order to best advise these various entities and to provide a distinct perspective on strategic matters.

Our Purpose

"To engage globally-minded citizens in international affairs in order to promote peace, security and strategic awareness.”

Misssion

The mission of the Canadian Center for Strategic Studies is to conduct, promote and publish high-quality, independent research and, based on that research, to provide innovative, practical recommendations that advance three broad goals: strengthen Canadian foreign-policy making; foster the security and strategic issue conscientiousness of all Canadians; and secure a more engaged, prudent, and coherent approach for Canada to international system. We shall pursue these goals through independent thinking, open debate, reasoned argument, facts and the high standards of research and exposition. Without regard for politics or prevailing fashion, we dedicate our work to a more informed, and engaged public.
